This isn't really a huge problem for me, but I'm having a problem with the newer LaptopVideo2Go driver releases (179.13 onwards). I have an 8400M GS on my 1420. The problem is that after I install them and reboot, my fan loses control upon loading to the desktop and goes at several seconds at full blast, then to slow, then back to full blast, then slow again, etc. It's really annoying too, since these drivers supposedly give improved performance in Far Cry 2. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem on their Inspiron 1420/XPS m1330, or other laptop with the 8400M GS? Right now I'm stuck at 178.24 drivers.

    I already use I8k, thanks :p

By 179.13 onwards I also meant the 180.xx series, they all give me the insane on/off fan.

I had this exact same problem Tofu. I haven't found a solution for it yet, so I've had to stick with the drivers on the Dell website. What BIOS revision are you using?

I'm still using Revision A00. I haven't seen the need to upgrade, especially since people have said that it makes the fan run at a lower temperature to keep things cooler.

Unfortunately my GPU just blew out on me, but the last advice I got before it happened was to try updating the BIOS. Try A13 and see if that works, if it ups the temps then you can just flash back to 00. I am curious to hear what happens... you're the only other person I've run into who has this problem. Keep me posted.
