The new 1420 is everything I was hoping for. 14" with dedicated graphics at a reasonable price. I'm just curious about the new nVidia graphics. Is the 8400M GS a faster/direct x10 compatible upgrade to the 7400? 7600?

    Thanks for your help!

I think this had been gone over before, so just regurgitating what I've read here:

    8400M GS ~= Go 7600 ~= NVS 135/140M

The NVS 135/140M is a (DX10) business class GPU that just has different drivers from the 8400 GS.

Thanks, I'm really only going to play CS:S/CoH so the 8400M GS sounds perfect then

This topic brings up a question for me. I am hoping to get the game Lost Planet for the PC. From others I have heard that they can run the demo on high settings with the Nvidia 7600. If this is true can the 8400 do this aswell?

I don't believe the 8400GS is anywhere near the 7600, the 8400GT is slightly under the 7600 under speculation - however, until real benchmarks have been released, take it with grain of salt.
