Hi, it seems that i may have screwed something up majorly

According to Notebook Check? I think thats what it is.....my memory clock on my gfx should be at 600mhz, well..... my core clock(ROP domain) runs full at 432mhz, Shader at 864mhz and memory......at a minimal 399mhz, Notebook Check? says that it should be running at 600mhz, as does Nvidia, what could be the problem?

Is there any way that i can clock this to run at 600mhz as it should be?

Or is this HP just being a pain in the A**?

heres a shot of the clock speeds GPU Monitor.jpg

Well if its underclocked you could always use a program such as Rivatuner to overclock it back to its stock speeds

note that this will not harm you GPU as it is simply resetting it to its standard clock speeds.

HP might have underclocked it to keep it alot cooler and to reduce noise although i dont know why they would do so.

Theres nothing wrong with your GPU.

Its called powermizer, it automatically downclocks your GPU for improved power consumption. It will throttle up to 600mhz only when needed.

your 8400m gs has ddr2 video ram, so it runs at 400mhz(800mhz effective). some subvenders choose to use cheaper ddr2 instead of gddr3 to cut cost.

gddr3(nvidia reference specs) is clocked at 600-900mhz, and can push as high as 1300mhz.

well memory chips can't blow up, they die quietly. :p

Haha thats what i meant, just in a more sarcastic manner.

Anyways, the fact that it can go to 1300mhz is quite interesting..

In between 600mhz-1300mhz is the safe "overclocking" zone i presume u must have meant right?

seeing as how it can be pushed to 1.3Ghz is scary...and i definately wont try that lol

no please don't try it, you don't want to kill it. only some desktop cards can push that high. most laptop cards tops out at about 1ghz ish.

Thanks everyone for the help, I have overclocked, quite well actually, the cores now runing at 553mhz, Shader at 1107mhz and memory at 472mhz (945.000mhz effective) Cards still runnig aas sable as before, just preforms a little better, ok, A LOT better

Anyone think it should be able to go higher?

    Thanks

I understand this, what i meant is that it only throttles up to 400(399)mhz Not 600, i also understand tht this card has a memory problem, apparently, if the clock on the Vram are set at over 475mhz the card artifacts quite easily, so, i have made sure to stay under that mark........For now......

    Thanks

    SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST

    no man!!!

don't make an overclock....your clocks are low because the videocard is smart enough to recognize where to put more clocks (powermizer), flipfire was right, I was playing rFactor here now, when I exit the game the clocks were very high, the same as specified by Nvidia or even higher sometimes. Don't worry about that.

I understand that the card has powermizer, I know, I also want to push my notebook, It is when the clocks go up that the memory only goes to 399mhz GPU Monitor.jpg , i have pushed this because i wish to increase preformance, by pushing these i have seen a major increase in preformance, everything is SMOOTH :D Battlefield 2, Custom Settings=1280x800,All High +8xAA 40FPS+

NOTE: Cards Temp still never goes above 65degrees C, card is overclocked in thumbnail, BTW these are power 3d speeds
