Hi,I was wondering which was better for gaming? mostly source engine games,But I will be playing cs 1.6,starcraft, and Wc3.If I were to get the Geforce Go 7400 I will get the Hp dv 6000t and if the 8400M GS I will get the dell vostro 1500. So which will perform better games wise? And the processor for the dv 6000t is Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2450 (2.0 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
and for the vostro- Intel® Core 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
-
The Core 2 Duo is a far superior processor, and the 8400m GS is about 50% faster than the Go 7400.
-
The 8400 is a new generation. The 7400 isn't. Now, not to say that it doesn't make it better automatically, because a 7950 would slaughter an 8400 easily. However, they fall in the same performance class FOR THEIR GENERATIONS. And since the 8400 is in a newer one, it will beat the 7400. Period.
As for the processor, despite the lower clock the Dell has the new Santa Rosa chipset which has a higher FSB and supposedly more efficient use of resources and power.
However, since you're opting for a Vostro 1500 I would say go all the way and get the 8600M GT. You won't be sorry. -
8400m..........

Is there a thread where it displays the 8600M GT screens?

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=144901 -THe 8600m GT is a better choice then the 8400m GS if gaming is a priorty to you though the 8400m GS can handle the games you mentioned games nicely.
-
yes gaming is an absolute priority but I move around a lot so thats Why I need a gaming laptop thats easy on my wallet.
Thanks I think I will be configuring the notebook with the 8600M GT
-
$907 is pretty easy on the wallet.
-
but is there a thread where there are screens of the 8400M GS?

Man, HP is still schlepping Core Duos on machines with dedicated graphics? Dumb question, considering they're still configuring new AMD x2 processors with NVidia 6150 SE ("sucky edition") INTEGRATED graphics ... like, about 3 generations old, and hyping these as entertainment machines and charging what other mfg's charge for C2D's with next generation dedicated graphics.
And I agree with the above poster -- get the 8600M GT; it'll prolly STILL be cheaper than the HP with a outdated cpu & gpu! -
the Core Duo is the better processor. Core Duos performs pretty on par with a Core 2 Duo with similar clock and FSB. In this case the Core Duo's clock is much higher than the C2D while the C2D's FSB advantage is not enough to compensate for that.

if you are goin to get vostro 1500..i suggest you get 8600m gt instead. its a waste if you have the space in 15.4 laptop for a better graphic card.
screens for 8400m gs is http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=152526&highlight=8400m -
thanks for the thread, and yes I am going to be getting an 86 00M GT in my vostro 1500,but do you think they will be making the price higher in the near future?Because I don't have any money for a laptop right now.and is there a thread for the 8600M GT?
