I am wondering about which graphic card is better
    The first one is a
    896 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M, 768 MB TurboCache (DX10)

    and the other one is
256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, 1024 MB TurboCache (DX10)

I will use the notebook mostly for work, but I want to play games on it too and then it must be capable for the max graphic settings

I don't know laptops but I know know video cards(desktop pc video cards) and the 8600 is the obvious choice.

Err, the memory quoted is a bit misleading. This will have 128 of dedicated VRAM, and the remaining 768 is borrowed from the main RAM.

By the same token, the 8600M GT can borrow as much as 1024MB from the system RAM, taking it to a grand total of 1280MB useable RAM.

And the 8600M GT is definitely the faster and more able, however that would very likely result in somewhat larger heat generation and power usage. Depends what's important to you most.

The 8600GT is maybe more than twice as fast as the 8400...

Yeah they both are in a sence "future proof" becuase they both run dx10. but still I'd go with the 8600m. i have a notebook on the way which has the 8600m. can't wait.
