I've been looking at the HP dv6500T and the dv9500T. After careful consideration I think i'd rather have the 15.4in screen for portability and being cheaper. My only question is how is the card for gaming? Im putting everything into this laptop like the 2 gigs and 2.0 core 2 duo processor. If I get it im definately getting the 8400m GS. Anybody know how it would run for World of Warcraft?

It'll definitely run WoW at max settings without any problems at all.
The 8400m GS should be somewhat similar to performance as the previous gen 7600.

40 men Raids however might give it some slight problems, but it should nevertheless run perfectly smooth throughout the game.
WoW, afterall isn't a very taxing game.

Definitely! Besides, after BC almost no one does good, old 40s...

My only advice - Get Yourself at least 2gigs of ram... there's never too much of it for WoW ;-)

I've played WoW on Intel GMA 950, GeForce 2 MX, 4Ti, 7600GS, Radeon x200, Mobile x300, Mobile x1300 and x1600... and believe me, the game ISN'T as demanding in case of GPU as you might think. Even the 8400m GS will allow to run it at highest settings at relatively high resollution. But, as i said, the more RAM, the better.

That doesn't dictate the actual ingame performance of the GPU.
Especially for a game like WoW, which is very easy to run btw.

WoW runs well on almost all the newer GPUs, including Integrated cards.
The only thing that would be taxing would be the memory usage, and getting the more RAM, the better.

My computer has 1.5gb of ram and 3.2ghz pentium 4 with a GeForce 6800 GS card. I get about 30fps normally. How can a laptop run it better than my comp? the laptop im getting will have 2 gb of ram, 2.0ghz core 2 duo and the 8400m GS. Compare?

the GPU will only make the difference, because it's bottleneck. it can only take in so much, even if the cpu is processing it super fast. so the gpu difference will make up the game fps difference.

If you're comparing the two GPUs, there's a difference in performance.
The Geforce 6800 GS card is a high end graphics card, whereas the Geforce 8400m GS is a performance range graphics card.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the performance of the Geforce 6800 GS in 3dMark06 should be around 1900, however I'd expect the Geforce 8400m GS to perform around similarly, if not .. less, to the nVidia Quadro NVS140 ( which is equivalent to the Geforce 8400m GT ). Thus, I'd infer that the expected performance should range around 1452 for 3dmark06.

And as I've known, with that performance, it should run WoW quite decently at around an average of 20-25 fps at max detail.

To sum it up, the Geforce 8400m GS card is considered a performance range graphics card, whereas the Geforce 6800 GS is considered a high end graphics card.
The Geforce 6800 GS will outperform the 8400m GS. But the difference shouldn't be extremely huge, but nevertheless it's more powerful.

Hence, the Geforce 8400m GS should perform quite adequate for most of your needs. Of course, squeezing in some extra performance is possible at your discretion.

Hope this helps. If I mistaken any info, please do tell.
