Maybe I'm just a little paranoid, but i ran 3dmark05 on my vostro1500 and i got something around 2100ish. Is it me or does that seem a little low? Any help is appreciated

That seems about right. I'm assuming you have a santa rosa chipset and 2 gigs of RAM? I have that an an 8600gt, and I get arond 2900. And the 8400 is quite a bit weaker, so...

It's not really all that powerful. But it is still lik 900 points too low (should be around 3k). Check to see if it was plugged in when you did the test.

He's talking about 3dmark 05, not 3dmark06. And yes, that is fairly low. What do you get in 3dmark06, if you don't mind my asking?

I would make sure that your laptop is plugged in, that the power settings are set appropriately, and that you don't have anything running in the background.

3Dmark05. not 06. And you should also get more.

Actually, no, 2900 is about right for that machine.

    Oh, my mistake, sorry. Misread.

And no, 2900-3000 is correct for the 2090 without any OCing.

It is? I see people all over the place getting 3400+. Or is that OC'd/with GDDR3?

Usually overclocked. I think you can still reach around 3400 with the DDR2 version, anything higher is probably GDDR3. One guy I saw got around 3800, but he had 800mhz RAM

Yeah i have the T5470 with 2 GB of ram. I think my 3dmark06 score was like 12-1300ish? I ran it with nothing in the background and my power settings are on the dell recommended option. Any ideas why its running so slow? Thanks

For an 8400m GS, 3Dmark05 should be about 3000, 3Dmark06 about 1400. Set your power settings to high performance, remove bloatware/excess processes and re-run the test.

Edit: I like how the system automatically hyperlinks the number "1400" to the Vostro.

I did all of the above and my 05 score was 2300. Any other reason for my score being so low?

I have done several 3dmark06 test on this card, with different drivers.
I have the 8600m GS 500/400. See my thread here
The best i can get is 2260 with the 163.44 drivers. I am running XP and there seems to be a big problem with this card running at the correct memory clock speed.

Can someone else start to do some comparisons. I konw Asus have underclocked this card a bit however we should be getting better then the low 2k's.

Ok, I partly take back what I said earlier about 2900 being a good 06 score for the 2090. That IS what most people have reported for out of the box performance, but I just ran 3dmark06 again and got new results. When I was on Vista with the 162.22 drivers, I got around 2950 or so. Now, I'm on XP with the new 163.44 drivers, and I got approx 3200.

vagabondllama what screen do you have, i'm guessing the WSXGA+ by your scores, people with the WXGA seem to get 3400 right out of the box
