    8400m gs good enough?

    I order a 1420 i wanted a portable laptop that can still play games good. Or is it that bad at playing games that I have to get a 1520 and go with bigger less portabe laptop to get a better graphics card.

    8400 will play older and most current games fine, its if you want to play games coming out in a month or so that you will have to get the 8600gt if you want any sort of quality with them.

    The 1420 with the 8400GS should play games fine but not at high settings. The 1520 with the 8600M GT would have been a better choice for gaming. I would suggest that you switch if you want to do any gaming especially for upcoming games such as Bioshock or Crysis. The 8400GS would probably stand no chance on playing such games. At least with the 8600M GT you have a decent chance at getting good frame rates on medium-high settings.

    once I get my 1420 will I be able to put a 8600mgs in it or a least a 8400mGT please help!!!

    No you can't upgrade it...the few the proud the upgradable (not dell)

    You can cancel your order if it hasn't already shipped and reorder...thats what I did

    Are there any notebooks where you CAN upgrade the graphics card?
    I think I've heard of one, but I'm not sure...

    I think Asus is making an external graphic card for notebooks but it's going to cost you an arm and a leg.

    you can upgrade the gpu in some of the really high end ones with the MXM tech...like the clevo/sager systems w/ 7950gtx cards

    THe 8400m GS is plenty for casual or light gaming.
