i am going to upgrade my inspiron 1520 graphics card (ive checked to make sure this is possible) to the 8600m gt from my current card the 8400m gs. heat wise, will my pc develop heat issues because of this card upgrade or will i be fine as far as that goes?

I think you'll be fine, but depends on what graphic-intensive games or work you plan on doing. Running Crysis on your current setup would definitely raise some heat issues. However, be sure your processor can handle it, and you have enough ram for whatever you're going to use the graphics card for.

I'm using an 8600m GT running on Core Duo T9300 with 3GB Ram. I play alot of FPS and RPG games, and so far, no heat issues...

thanks for the reply :) i chated with dell and they told me that the ventilation set up for two inspirons with different cards is the same when they ship them. so i know upgrading wont be a problem (as far as heat goes). i have 4 gb of ram so i think im covered there lol. i tend to use a cooling pad so i will just keep that up.

Yeah if you have a proper cooling pad... it should go well

But the 8400 GS sure does have hella lot of problems, over heating being only of them.

GOod luck and post on here how it goes with pics and all that good stuff.

glad to hear that, how much did the upgrade cost you?
