i have noticed an increase in te temperatures my laptop is running at in the last few months. i installed the nvidia notebook driver 186.03 and saw a small decrease in temperatures but i still get high temeperatures with some games such as battlefield heroes where it had reached 86 degrees after an hour of playing other games are getting slighly lower temperatures in the low eighties. how can i decrease my temperatures more without opening up the computer to clean the fans as that would probably void my warranty.
PS at what temperature will the card start to be damaged at.

i need help i dont want to play games and break the laptop as i need it to do work on so dont want to have to send it away for repairs or anything. 86 degrees seems a bit high for 1 hour of gaming

Hi wildman
opening you base plate to clean out the fans will not void your waranty.
can you download HW Monitor and HD Tune and post a picture of your results so we can get a better idea of all the readouts.
edit:
just looking at your spec you have got a sony vaio.
as you posted this in the gaming section there is no problem with opening clevo's to clean the fans out but you will need to check with your supplier just to check on the opening of the sony.
alternatively check out the Sony Thread Here -
thank ill see about opening it up the manual tells you how to open the base panels but they dont give access to the fans i might just save up for a desktop for my gaming and play less games on my laptop. i will post screenshots of my temps when i get time i was measuring them with HW monitor.

get some compressed air and use it in the vents

cool ill try that i might be able to borrow some off a friend another reson for the high temos could be because of the hot weather at the moment i might consider a cooling stand as they dont cost too much but ill definitely try the compressed air first

yes ambient temps can sometimes really affect the overall temps.....i used to get at max 65c but since here in CA. is getting hot due to summer it gets as high as 76c.....so yeah ambient temps really do affect temps...u should clean out all vents....and buy a good notebook cooler....

Simple, dont use any program to underclock or adjust the fan...just flash the vBIOS using NVflash with a custom BIOS made by yourself.
The programs you need to do this are nibitor and nvflash. Simply extract and edit your BIOS with nibitor, then flash with nvflash. Heres a guide:
