Hey guys! I'm thinking of getting a new computer am wondering what kind of preformance gain I would get if I decided to get a 8600GT. I currently get around 20-50 FPS in BF:2142 (All low except textures and polys at medium), and 20-60 in Guild Wars (All max, except no shadows)...

    Huge Difference actually.
The Geforce 8400m GS is already near the performance of the 7600, which doubles the performance of the X1400.

So then the Geforce 8600m GT should be twice the performance of the 8400m, and thus quad times the performance of the X1400.

8600GT allows modern games to be played very comfortably...Oblivion, Call of Juarez, Company of Heroes, etc.

As an X1400 owner myself, i would have to say, the 8600GT is about 3-4 times better than our X1400's.
