    8600 gt 256 vs 8600 gt 512

    Right guys help me please looking at these 2 g/cards and i am a keen gamer hoping to play crisis and stuff but i am not an eye candy madman :).so the machine with the 256 comes to £997 uk pounds(cd2 2.2,160 7200hd,1 gb turbo ram) the other machine the 512 comes too £1237 same specs as above.Is it worth the extra cash in the long run.Thanks for any help guys........Fritzy

    You should check if they are DDR2 or DDR3, this will make a big difference.
    If there both the same, no it won't be worth the extra cash in my opinion.

    imo, that depends on the screen resolution you're using

    if both are GDDR2 or both GDDR3, and you have a high resolution, then get the 512MB, if you have a low resolution, get the 256MB

    if one is GDDR2 and the other GDDR3, go with the GDDR3

    The 512MB 8600GT is DDR2 1300, the 512MB 8600GTS is GDDR3 2000.

    A 512MB DDR2 will be cheaper than the GDDR3 one, a 512MB GDDR3 will be same price as a 8600GTS

    Right guys the 256 is a ddr2 and a 15.4” WXGA, 1280 x 800 resolution, Glare Type Technology screen and the 512 is a ddr2 with a 15.4 WSXGA (1680 x 1050) thanks for your time guys..........Fritzy
