Hi, sorry for asking this but will I notice any difference in performance on games like HL2 at say 1680xXXXX res? On medium-high settings? I'm torn between going for a vostro or a rock as I know they do 512 versions of the 8600.

as far as i know, it's the regular 256mb card + 256mb turbocache....other web sites seem to make a big deal out of it... it really got me for a good second. Oh, hl2 should run just fine on high settings on any 8600.
