I search in google, all the forums, tech reviews said that max memory of 8600GT is 512Mb. But i dont know why when i use dxdiag to check, it said the memory is 1008Mb.

I wonder what is 1008Mb? Although the physical memory in used of my system is only near 800Mb.

My lap is dell 1520, T7300, 8600 GT, 2Gb RAM, Vista Ultimate.

I've got the G1s, and mine says that it's 1522 mb... Very strange. I've got 3 gigs of ram, though, so that might make a difference.

Vista's driver model automatically virtualizes video memory, meaning that it can take system memory and give it to the graphics card when needed. It's basically TurboCache or HyperMemory built into the OS. It's only suppose to take when it's needed so it shouldn't reduce performance normally, but programs will report a larger number than your physical video memory.

you'll never use more than 256 anyways...512 maybe in extreme situations, 1gb+ highly doubtful

Im not sure but I think you can only get that with Dual-Graphics Cards. or SLI. If you get two 8600 GT's at 512MB each then you can. Im not sure what models have that, but im sure you could find it or it'll come out soon. =Hope I could help
