Whats the difference between the two cards?
Since the Sager 2090 has 512 mb and supposedly it is a GDDR3, would it be better than the Dell 1520 that has a 256mb and I think its GDDR3
Which one is better?
Thanks![]()
P.S.: Is the IFL90/Sager 2090/Dell 1520 the best laptops with 15.4" and 8600gt available? Is there anything new coming out in later in July or August?

in-game performance should be the same. but the 256 mb card has 700mhz video ram? and the sager has 400 mhz? dont quote me on this, but the dell should be a little faster. this is only apparant in 3dmark scores though, like i siad before, they will both perform the same in in-game performance.

If the dell is 700mhz and the ASUS g1s is 700mhz (700mhzx2= 1400mhz) Would they perform the same? Therefore making the 1520 a better gaming machine than the 2090?

Ugh, will people please remember that it is double-data rate memory?
The 2090 has more, faster video memory. It will outperform the Dell.
The only other options for 15" notebooks with 8600GT:
-Asus G1S (GDDR2)
-Apple MacBook Pro (GDDR3)
Very soon the 15" Lenovo T61 will be available with an 8600GT (actually, a Quadro, but it's basically the same internal chipset). -
edit: once again don't quote me on this -

The Sager forum is your friend. -
Is there a noticable difference between dell's offering of the 256mb DDR2
and sager's 516mb DDR3 8600???
such as a difference in 3d benchmarks??? -
The G1S has a 8600GT with DDR3, not DDR2.

im hearing mixed results regarding dell having ddr3. i dont wana discuss That though.
I'm just curious now If there is a difference between a 256mb DDR2
and 516mb DDR3 8600 such as difference in 3d benchmarks.
anyone? =\ -

if theres a difference between a 256mb DDR2
and 516mb DDR3 8600 such as difference in 3d benchmarks. -
I think you mean 512mb. In 3dmark06 you would see a difference between 256mb GDDR2 and 512mb GDDR3, though usually the real world performance between GDDR2/3 has more to do with heat and power then game performance. And the difference between 256 and 512 usually only comes into play at higher resolutions.

Let's just put it this way, if you have two identical machines:
Machine A with 256mb GDDR3
Machine B with 512mb GDDR2
And if you play games on both at moderate settings, then when asked to identify the type of card, you will NOT be able to tell the difference.
So all that means what? Just placebo effects. I mean, GDDR3 must be better than GDDR2 right? And if someone got GDDR2, he/she will absolutely regret the purchase just because of a possibly lower benchmark?
Please.
EDIT: Rcervantes buy whichever machine pleases you. Don't just let little things like this change your opinion. And remember, there's much more about a laptop than just the GPU. -
good post. i was trying to get at this point too w/ my post.
