minxshin, would you be able to post your system report from Riva Tuner?
According to the report, my Asus F3sv has ddr3 installed ??

It is G86! Which means this is a heavily overclocked 8400M GT.
-
-
Same with teh Sager's 8600 GT
-
Just so you guys know RivaTuner is inaccurate because it does not do hardware level readings rather a driver and registry level reading. So it is not reading correctly the components.
Here are the common 8600M notebooks.
Dell Inspiron 1520 8600M GT DDR2 not GDDR2, big difference
Asus F3sv 8600M GS either GDDR2 or DDR2, depending on region, my memory is listed as GDDR2
Asus G1s 8600M GT GDDR3 -
Here is a list from wikipedia.org indicating the max capabilites of the cards. The 8600M GS is actually a G84M not a G86M. Sorry for couble posting I couldnt add it to the above post.

Nvidia *really* needs to stop with this BS labeling on these cards.
And why is the 8600GT the only card with DDR2???? That really messes everything up. -
-
Temperature readings should be accurate I guess.
-
-
Uhh I guess I should give you guys a little update... I actually sold my laptop so I won't be able to test this out any further, however, I did pick up a MBP 2.2 so I'll do doing tests on that instead.
-
WHy'd you switch? -
LoL i love the FEAR screenies. Did you just take a picture with a digital camera???
-
I switched cause... I dunno really why I did. And yes I took them with a digi cam cause screen caps wouldn't work for some reason.
-
Do most people just use the standard Intel drivers? I'm wondering if the laptopvideo2go drivers are any better.
-
INtel does not make the drivers for video cards, it's mostly up to the manufacturers. And I think for the most the part the laptopvideo2go drivers have done very well.

u had an ownage laptop

I found some intresting info regarding the clock rate of the 8600m GS
Mine is definitly running DDR2 and is ment to be 500/400
However since putting on 163.44 drivers rivaturner now reports it running at an efective speed of 799.2. The only problem is that this speed is given only when idle. As soon as u run a 3d app it drops back to 399.2 see attachment.
Could this mean that it is only a matter of time before drivers release the full partential of this card or is it simply a mistake from Rivaturner. -
How did he manage to get a 8600m GS with GDDR3? Im thinking of buying an HP pavilion dv9704tx.. Which has the 8600m GS but im not sure if this is a GDDR3.. Does anyone know what the real deal is with it? I cant seem to find anything about it on google...

I think that compares to ATi HD2.6k with ddr2 pretty well.

it sucks -
Hi I have a benq joybook s41 and I am one unfortunate owner of it. =( I've read several posts of other s41 users being able to oc their 8600gs to around 650 but my highest is around 550. When I put it to 650 my pc crashes IMMEDIATELY (when i press apply in rivatuner). So my question is, if i have such underclocked stock values and limitations set by benq, are there any ways to bypass them?

ummmm i would use the drivers 169.04
what drivers are you using.
when i had those drivers i could push my computer to 700 core 1500 shader 490 mem. until the bios f.49 or something like that came out then i just stop
cause my cooler broke and then the whole nvidia card thing came out and alot more
8600M GS F.E.A.R., 3dmark06, underclock, stock, OC Benchmark
