Overall which is a better video card? I know the latter is meant for business but is there that much of a difference between them for gaming. Also, how much better is the 8600M GT? Worth a $100 upgrade?

i think that it depends on your budget. If your budget allows for the upgrade, go for it. The 8600gt is more future proof but the 8600m gs can play games like counter-strike source with max settings hitting 100+ fps with AA/AF.

depends on what resolution, fps, and quality you want to play games at.

the 8600m gt will take you somewhat further than the gs or the quadro card.

If you care a lot about gaming, go for the 8600M GT.

I chose the 135M (similar to the 140M) because it comes in a 14" laptop. If you're fine with a 15", I see no reason not to go with the 8600 GT - it really isn't that expensive of an upgrade.

And I'm not waiting for the T61P or whatever. Even if they do come out with a 14" with the 8600 GT, it'll probably be in awhile and cost too much.

Quadro is not for gaming if more for CAD and 3D software... 8600m GS is more for gaming

True the Quadro is not made for gaming but then again the FX1500/2500M hold their own against their gaming counterparts. The ATI workstation cards seem to perform TERRIBLY with games.
