    Hey,

I recently installed the 163.44 drivers from laptopvideo2go for my 8600M GT, the install went perfectly fine using the have disk method and replacing the inf file.

The gaming performance is great and every game works and plays smoothly

However I notice that after a while I cannot play any media files in Windows Media Player nor VLC media player. Right after driver install all media playback works fine, but after a while, after a couple of restarts or whatever it just stops working. Albeit gaming still is perfect.

WMP just shows a black screen with the mouse and hourglass as if its waiting to load the media, but after a while system freezes and have to restart manually.

VLC does the same thing, shows a black screen, the progress bar moves and audio of the media is hearable but after a while system freezes and have to restart manually.

In the web wmp video files cause the browser to freeze and hence sytem to freeze, flash files play just fine.

I then reinstall the 163.44 drivers and everything works fine and after a while it stops working, this cycle continues on

Why is this, does any one know and what can I do to remedy it?

I recommend using GOM player it works for me and it has many different built-in codecs you don't need to hunt down each one of them for specific video format. I stopped using windows media player long ago.

Did a fresh reformat, still same problem, I think I should have installed the graphics driver first then the chipset drivers so that it knows how to use the agp, pci and all that stuff properly.

GOM player works perfectly fine, but I would like to use VLC.

    Hi

I have noticed the exact same problem. I have a Zepto 6224WD.

I have narrowed it down to XviD videos. I am not sure if it is the driver, or the new BIOS which I installed - 005e.

If you install the CCCP codec pack, and then take a look at the settings, you should be able to disable FFDShow Video Decoders. If you are trying to watch a DivX video, then disable DivX in there and it should now work.

However, I can't get it working with XviD. Which is annoying considering the vast majority of my videos are in that format.

    Any ideas?

blackbird you can try 162.18 it's 2nd best driver for me. Though I haven't experienced any playback problem with 163.44 yet.

hirush, can I ask you what version of wmp do you have, and what codecs did you use for xvid, divx and all that.

I just went for the easy Klite codec package and installed that

    same setup I have.

I will try installing the drivers properly again withouth the have disk method and by replacing the inf and running setup.exe

If still not working will probs try out your suggestion of 162.18

Is the problem still there when you reformat and don't install any codecs and just use VLC? I'm guessing it's a conflicting codec problem, not the video driver.
