    Hi guys.
I have a question which might seem stupid to some, but it's a sudden change which just got me worried.
As you can tell from both the title and sig. I'm using a 8600M GT with the new 174.20 drivers. I was running the 169.04 drivers previously, however I feel these new drivers have very much optimized performance in the games I play -FSX and Crysis. Now, I am concerned because my temperature for the GPU was always at 50-51 degrees, even under heaving gaming such as Crysis before, but when I moved to the new drivers my temperature rose to 56 to 58degrees when at idle as it is right now, and I just got a crash from Crysis and the temperature was reading 61 degrees. It's quite the change, may not seem like much, but 10 degrees just because of the drivers?
Anyhow, is this normal? My GPU is not Overclocked by the way, and as for the sensor, I am using Everest Ultimate.

Thanks in advance, I would appreciate the feedback.

As a dell owner, a vostro at that, which features the same design as the dell 1520's. I must say the new temperature sounded more normal for that laptop. It might be due to a lower ambient temperature, but in my experience, even when the ambient temperature is very cold, I have yet to see a stressed dell 8600m temperature caped at 51 degrees.

As long as you don;t surpass ~80-85°C should be fine.

Very good anime. Kind of weird at the end, but the drawings and atmosphere are amazing.

Double check your clocks, because drivers can change clocks.

    what?????????

my jfl92's 8600m gets to and stays at 98 degrees c ... and it's perfectly fine.
the "operating" temp for the 8600m is 90-110.

you don't need to worry about 56

Clock speed is said to be 513/400 though it has always been like that. On Everest it says overclocked 8% with all laptopvideo2go drivers. As far as I know the stock clock speed is 475 for this card. So why I'm getting 513, I have no idea.

Same thing happens with my card, RivaTuner says it's running at 513MHz when it's really only running at 475MHz. Not sure why it does this, reported the same numbers with the stock drivers from Dell as it does now with 173.65 drivers.

My 8600M GT peaks at 103 Degrees.

    Nothing wrong there !

I wouldn't be too concerned about your 56.

Rivatuner is designed for desktop variants GPUs, therefore it makes mistakes when it reads the clock on laptop cards.

    TO OP:
Ergo Proxy is an amazing anime, I love the drawing style, and the point that the anime makes your think. However, the ending felt rushed, besides that I love it!

    P.S. <3 Pino!

Holy crap man, your 86M GT is on an imminent fry...consider that the heat that thing makes is also affecting the cpu and other components...

These temps are perfectly normal for the G1S and several other 8600m GT notebooks, (possibly Zepto 6625 & 6324 ?) with stock clocks.

Many threads on this forum will reiterate this :

Just a few. There are also several people on here with thousands of posts and high REP powers who post that NVIDIA say 8600M GT is fine until well over 100 Degrees (some state 120, others even 125), although I can't find any real info from Nvidia.

yeah. Most c90 users also have hot 8600 gt's... Most of us range from 80-100 under gaming load. How do they keep it low for the DELL's ?

uhhh, by not sticking a desktop CPU with OC ability inside a 15.4 case? :p
Also, the different case designs of the two notebooks plays a role as well.
