    HI ;)

Since many of us (including me) want to know how these games will run on the new 8600M GT, I have made the following.

Comparing mobility x1600 and GO 7600 (previous generation) to the best graphic-looking games of 2006, I have got this results. Thanks MASTHA212.

    F.E.A.R (F.E.A.R , Condemned:Criminal Origins)

Settings as follows : all to maximum + soft shadows OFF, 1024x768.

    No AA + No AF

    X1600 : 47 fps
    GF7600 : 53 fps

    AA x4 + AF x4

    X1600 : 30 fps
    GF7600 : 32 fps

PREY (Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey)

Settings as follows : all to maximum or ON, texture details set to highest, shader details set to high, 1280x768.

    No AA + No AF

    X1600 : 32,5 fps
    GF7600 : 38 fps

    AA x4 + AF x4

    X1600 : 25,4 fps
    GF7600 : 24.2 fps

Wouldnt these tests confirm that upcoming games will run at similar FPS on the new 8600M GT? Hope we are right! :)

Well, considering that the preliminary benchmarks for the 8600M GT (~3600 3dmarks 06/4300 OD'd) vastly outperform both the 7600 go and mobility x1600, I would hypothesize that the games you mentioned would run at "similar" FPS, although we have no way of knowing for sure until they are released.

    I hope they do

Im waiting till August to buy a laptop due to all the new stuff thats happening, hopefully buy then some one would have reviewed the 8600M GT (I hope it gets good results, similar or better than 7900 gs) if not hopefully better DX 10 mobile cards will be out

On a side note, all these games you mentioned look absolutely stunning

well, in theory, we should be getting those results with new games. I also think that we will get even better ones because there are a lot of people without DX10, so that programmer have to optimize their games for good performance. If you look at the mobility x700 and GO 6600, results are very similar compared to nice-looking 2005 games.

I'm sorry but there is no way to figure out what sort of framerates the 8600M will get based off 3DMark scores or previous-generation hardware scores. You'll have to wait until there are actual game benchmarks available. A few of our members already have or have ordered notebooks with the new Nvidia cards so it is only a matter of time before some real benchmarks surface.
