Hello. I'd like to know what's the difference (in terms of gaming) between 8600M GT and GS. Should I get a notebook with a GT or it doesn't matter that much? I understand that DDR3 makes a difference too. In that case does LG P300 (8600M GS) have DDR3 like the Dell XPS M1530 (8600M GT)? Is the Dell XPS M1530 specifically better than the LG P300? I really want to get a smaller, lighter notebook but if the performance hit is big I'd go for the M1530. Would a 7.2 HDD make a big difference (than a 5.4 HDD) in those two notebooks?

Is the 9500M significantly better than the 8600M, should I wait for 13.3" with a 9500M?

    Thanks in advance.

The 9500M GS and 8600M GT are the same cards :)

The 9500 is the die-shrink of the 8600 meaning better heat efficiency, pick it over the GT if you like to overclock.

Don't bet on a 9500 appearing on a 13" chassis, mid-range cards run hot enough to force a minimum 14" chassis size.

Yup but it must not be confused with the 65nm G96s. The chip is smaller, but it's still a G84 on a 80nm process :)

Thanks. How about the HDD? Is a 7.2 HDD going to provide significantly better performance than a 5.4 HDD? On a core 2 duo with 8600M GS/GT? Should I expect a great drop in battery life with a 7.2 HDD?

There's not a big difference in battery life. I have a 5400 and it's fast enough.

The only difference the HDD will give you will be less loading time, so the 5400 should be fine. And you should be fine with the 8600m GT, the one in the M1530 is one of the fastest 8600's because it uses GDDR3. I've seen many benchmarks where it outperforms the 9500 series if it only has GDDR2. Heres a chart and as you can see it outperforms all of those and it has the worst processor
