Hi. right now i have a desktop with a 7800 GT. Pretty soon, i will be getting an IFL 90 with an 8600M GT. i was wondering if anyone had any idea how those two cards compare.

i'm pretty sure that the 7800gt will crush the 8600m gt. The benefit that the 8600m gt has is that it's a direct x 10 graphics card.

Actually, the gap may not be as wide as you think. Recognizing that the 7800GT is slower than the 7900GS, and that the desktop 8600GT often benches on par with the 7900GS, one can safely assume that though the somewhat lower-clocked mobile part might be slower, in most instances it should perform about on par with the 7800GT.

I thought it compared to the Go 7900 GS, not the 7900 GS. -

The 8600M GT is roughly equal to the desktop 7600gt in most games, although it excels in certain shader intensive ones like Oblivion (where it's actually closer to the 7900gt according to some reviews I've seen). The 7800gt is faster than the 7600gt so the 8600M GT will definitely be slower than the 7800. The 8700M GT however is about 15% faster than a 8600M GT which would put it roughly on par with your 7800GT.

(Found them from another thread) Looking at those, and knowing how the 7800GT performs, as I had one previously to my 8800GTS, those all perform closer to a desktop 7900GT or 7900GTX. Considering the Go7950GTX is better then a Go 7900GTX, and the Go 7900GTX is better then a 7800GT.
Can the Go7900GS really be so much worse then a Go 7900GTX that it lowers it to a 7600GT which is significantly slower then a 7800GT. To me it seems the 8600M GT would be closer to a lower clocked and lower bit 7800GT. Perhaps 7800GS, which as far as I know doesn't exist.
