    Should I go for Dell Inspiron 1720 (8600M - DDR2 / 256 MB)

    or

Dell Precision M6300 (NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M 256 MB dedicated[512 MB total])

I'm gonna be mostly into gaming.

Is it possible to download drivers of 8700M and install it on 1600M card and play games with same performance as 8600M ?

Secondly i'm getting 4 GB DDR2 RAM with precision and just 2 with inspiron (base model)..

Thanks in advance guys.. I need an answer urgently because i'm planning to buy this in 2 days time...

    :D

I thought Quadro FXs were for applications like 3Ds max etc not for gaming?

I'm from India.. and I'll be paying almost 500 $ extra for a notebook with

4 GB RAM DDR2 (2 GB more then the inspiron)

    1600M (256 dedicated [512 total]) rather then a 8600M DDR2 256 MB..

    .....

    is it worth it ?

Although I wouldn't generally recommend a Dell for much, seen as you seem to have your heart set on one I'd go for the Precision M6300. If you do alot of gaming or 3D app programming, then the graphics are much better and as you say there's not really much comparison except the price. If you can afford it, go for the 1600M Quadro methinks. There's no point not getting something now and then 6 months down the line thinking that you actually wanted taht extra spec and having to buy a totally new system!

Why do you need workstation capabilities? It seems like you're mostly interested in gaming...

What specific applications will you be using this notebook for? You might consider posting a FAQ in the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" forum.
