I know this has been long in discussion, and post after post, it is clear that the 8600M GT clearly dominates the GS version. But after comparing my Windows Experience Index of my Dell 1520 (with 8600M GT) to my friends LG R500 (with 8600M GS) his score COMPLETELY dominates mine.
Inspiron 1520: (This is with the 163.44 driver from laptopvideo2go)
Graphics - 4.6
Gaming Graphics - 5.2
I swear, I almost pooped my pants when I saw this:
LG R500:
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming Graphics - 5.3
I know that the experience index isn't a clear indication of the card's potential, but come on, how is the 8600 GS score so much higher?
-
WEI doesn't really matter, it's more of a software bug thats well known with WEI. The 8600GT is superior, trust me
-
Will people please stop posting this question. The WEI is a piece of crap - I've said it a hundred times.
8600m GT > 8600m GS
End of discussion. -
Thats good to hear, I guess?
-
Most likely the WEI is taking clock speeds and or bandwith into account, which would heavily favor a GDDR3 GS over a DDR2 GT.
-
WEI benchmarks weirdly. What does it actully base the score on?
-
da GT iz bettar coz T is after S. So ya no, its GT > GS.
-
After several times mentioning it ppl still seem to think this windows index thing is a real measurement and that it has any basis on how your system will perform.
-
I'm still the only one who believes the 8600gs GDDR3 is relatively the same performance as the 8600GT GDDR2
-
WEI is not that bad, but it rates your video card the same as your ram, and hard drive. It just checks how fast it can load, and unload data, basically only check it's memory. So yea, it is bad for video card performance rating.
8600M: GS better than GT?
