putting bench mark scores aside, what kind of real game difference is there between the 8600gs vs gt, and are there any big games planned yet requiring dx10

DX10 games:Crysis, Hellgate:London, Microsoft Flight Sim, etc -
Most new games will work on either DX10 or DX9 graphics cards, but after a number of years, they will transition to just DX10. That will take a long time, though. Alot of new notebooks can be found with either an 8600M GS or 8600M GT, and they are affordable.
If you want to game, these newer cards are definately worth it. The 8600M GT, in particular is very good, becaue its a strong card, and has moved the mainstream range up in performance. If gaming is not your concern, then there are also some very good deals to be had on outgoing technology. The 8600M GS, for example, performs just slightly better than a Go 7700. There are many Go 7700 equipped notebooks still on the market, and manufacturers and resellers will be wanting to get rid of them. -
so what is the diff' from GS and GT?
-
GS is their midrange line, GT is their highend line. Always get the GT if possible. A Go 7800GS is more powerful than a 7600GS, but a 7800GS is NOT as powerful as a 7600GT.
