You can lower the rez, but native resolutions are better.

I can tell you this though, trying to run a newish game at 1680*1050 with half decent textures, AA or AF will not be possible with that card, unless you like a sideshow (i.e v.low FPS)

How large of a screen are you look at? 17 or 15.4. Your gaming res can be set lower if need be, but it really depends how much desktop space you need, as in multitasking and whatnot.

    thx for the replies
dodgethis do u tend to run games at 1440x900 or do u find u need to lower the res on newer games?Im thinking of getting a similar laptop top as u with a 512 8600gt.or im going to get a dell vostro with the 256 version i cant deside!
both laptops will have 15.4 inch screens im tempted by the dell coz i can have a 1680x1050 res but i like the look and build quality of the Rizeon FL90
    dont know what to do!

for newer games like crysis, COD4, and Gears of War, you probably are going to have to lower the resolution to 1280x800.

1680x1050 is fine for games before 2007.

But you WILL have to lower the resolution in Crysis, around 1280x800, as dmacfour pointed out
