Hi, I know the DDR2 version of the 8600GT has :
Core Clock (MHz) 475
Shader Clock (MHz) 950
Memory Clock (MHz) 700
but what speed does the GDDR3 version of the 8600M GT run at at default clock speeds? What can it overclock to?
And what can happen to a laptop if you OC the videocard too much?
-
DDR2 - 475/950/400
DDR 3 - 475/950/700
You got the clocks backwards, those are stock DDR3 8600m GT clocks. Chances are you can probably get up to 600 on the core, maybe 8 ~ 900 on the memory, it all depends on the card, cooling, and so forth. If you OC to much your laptop will most likely lockup, just a simple reboot. -
Sigh sigh...yes, sorry. Typo ftw...

every card has different limits.if u overcolck too much u can shorten the life of the card or fry it entirely
-
The frying is induced by to much heat caused by the overclock through pro-longed use. The shortened life - he will out grow the card before any sort of damage comes about most likely. This is much more common in older hardware.
