Hi there, is it possible to upgrade the 8600gt in a vostro 1700 (17inch) now or in the future? I'm wondering if dell might release a vostro 1700 with a 8700gt so this would mean yes it is upgradable right

If a Vostro 1700 with an 8700M GT does release, then it may be compatible with your Vostro. If Dell still uses a propprietary connector on their notebooks, then its possible. Its likely they will use such a connector as well, as it makes upgrading for them much easier.

good news! do u think its likely they release the vostro with a 8700? or have they given up on the vostros? Also is it true that a 8700 is just an overclocked 8600?
