My system (VOSTRO 1500)
t7100 c2d 1.8 GHz
1Gb ram
8600m GT
After playing a specific amount of time somewhere around an hour the I begin to get corruption in games. . for example NFS Pro street ... the road disappears in front of me and letters change to blank box's. I only recently began having this issue. I use default dell drivers. ( willing to upgrade if recommended)
Another example is Sim city 4 Sudden parts of the map will have white squares ( blank box) like the letters of nfs.
please provide detail![]()
Thanks in advances cheers

Try to upgrade drivers. About SC4, I get also graphical corruption with 167.75, but its the only game, so it could be that it is not fully compatible with the GF8M.
-
Which drivers would you recommend and is there a basic installation tutorial...
last few drivers ended up in system formatting
SHOULD NOTE MY PC IS COMPLETELY JAPANESE IF IT HAS EFFECT ON DRIVER
Thank you -
You could find drivers on laptopvideo2go. Currently there are newer stable drivers than the 167.75 I use, you could try the 169 series.
As for the OS language, I don't think the driver cares. -
Thanks! It would be great if there was a specific driver that would work best for all around gaming
Anyone have a tutorial guide ( one thing im not sure would affect it would be that ntune does not show stats for me)
CHEERS! -
tried installing top one on the list and had to use system restore./.. screen was 300 by 400 resolution and colors totally inverse and bloched any ideas?
-
install 169.04. there is a guide on how to do so on laptopvideo2go.com. also are u overclocking the gpu
-
Thanks I"ll try it! I am possibly thinking of overclocking, I am just worried about hearing laptop expectancy dropping. Also battery life, Im ok as long as it lasts somewhere around 1 hr and 45 mins while gaming ( Use battery and game during lecture classes)
What are you opinions on OCing it?
Thanks -
Sorry about another post but would replacing the harddrive with a 7200 rpm hd help gaming slightly? (also wouldnt mind extra space)
Thanks -
It will help load times, but i dont think there will be a noticeable increase in gaming performance.
-
What would be your view on Ocing voodoo?
Thanks for the hd tip there -
overclock at your own risk .its safe if u know what your doing a take precautions
-
to install the drivers posted earlier, do i have to uninstall older drivers first while using the exe install method?
Thanks -
Use Dells. -
Why should I not use custom drivers? your the first to post that POV.
thanks -
Not worth in my opinion at all! -
alright, clear argument
then what would you recommend to do? Im not sure if I should OC since i play games for up to 8 hours straight, laptop runs(no sleep hibernate) often for 3-4 days with restart 3 times
-
Take a look into your autostart , and stop all not needed programmes from starting.
And close all not needed "dienste" dunno this one in english i think you call it clients. There are some you dont need but make sure you dont close any needed ones!
Next check how much ram is used on windows xp ( task manager) , for me its around 330 mb with my firewall and avast anti virus.
Now try a tool like windows xp anti spy , it will also help you to speed up your system.
Next download O&O defrag , and defrag your computer with COMPLETE/NAME
okay now download the newest dell driver from dell.com and the ati tool
You can overclock your card a little if you really must , but i wouldnt recommend more than 100 mhz , which would be already 1/4 of your cards power! , keep your temperatur in eye. You will be fine as long as its below 52 durin office and 70 during gaming!
hope this helps a little and i am sorry if i did any mistakes! -
the custom drivers are the same drivers that are eventually released by nvidia.LV2g jsut releases them earlier when there are in beta stage so some will be more stable than others. whatever the case they are always better than dells stock drivers
-
-
which ones did u try
-
hmmm Ill watch you two discuss this further and try and decide wether to upgrade drivers but sly, would i have to uninstall old drivers if i use the .exe install method?
Thanks for the cleaning guide, noticed what i was missing was an anti spy -
One thing i have neglected to mention is i use a custom windows xp visual style, styler (runs constantly for UI) and rocket dock runs aswell constantly.
I noticed they do not make an impact ( i believe) but im not positive, if there is i believe its very slight
thanks -
and to the other dude , i used 169.04 -
u dont have to uninstall the old drivers but it is always reccommended as the traces left behind can cause problems.there is a guide on LV2G it u dont know how to install the drivers.
@chrusti:did u uninstall the old ones before installing the new ones -
-
well maybe u have bad luck as most ppl who have problems with one driver get them sorted out with the next
-
so how would i go about uninstalling drivers?
-
use add or remove programs or just uninstall it from device manager
-
But I am not trying it again , dont feel like messing up my system right now :O
-
what entry do i select in add remove programs?
nvidia drivers and nvidia ntune? -
your choice.X2P u should try for your self . i u have no problems and see a change them good otherwise just roll back to the stock drivers
-
nvidia drivers
-
is it alright to remove ntune aswell? all i get are blank readings ..
-
yeah riva tuner is better for overclocking in my opinion
-
alright ill be back ina few mins after installation is done
-
what drivers are u installing
-
Installed 169.04 and about to test after uninstalling ntune will riva tuner work with japanese os (everything in japanese)?
-
how will u test. 3d mark??
-
Im testing by fps and sight in games, for example Need for speed prostreet runs ALOT Smoother, easily 20 more fps if not 40 more fps. The difference in screen quality for me has gone up substantially with these drivers, its crisper, less graininess, and better brightness. Absolutly Stunning! Thanks
the only con is load time has gone up a bit
thinking about the riva tuner now. (japanese os/ comp) -
no problem u already gave me rep so there isnothing i can ask for lol. as for the load times those qare hard drive related so rivatuner will not change them. defrag the drive to improve them or get a 7200 rpm one if u dont have it already
-
would clearing harddrive space aswell as defrag speed it up? and for 7200rpm where would i be able to purchase one in japan.. and how would i go about transferring
im still considering rivatuner for higher fps if possible so i can run higher quality
thanks ( ill be offline for 30 minutes but feel free to post) or msn me at [email protected] thanks
ill be back , THANKS!!! -
yeah cleaning up the hard drive would help. as for buying one go to any computer shop and get a notebokk 7200rpm drive in any size u want. its pretty simple to replace and as for the data either put the new one in a computer and transfer the data to it or burn cds and try that route.overclock if u want but check the temps to see it the gpu isnt that hot
-
Ok thanks, would the computer transfer just move everything including drivers, software such as quickset, and settings etc. even windows?
could i buy a hard drive in canada and toss it in my japanese vostro (bought in japan)
how would i check the temps? -
yeah u could do that. and u can choose what to move but windows will not transfer. delete the old one and install it on the new hard drive .to check the temp use riva tuner . here is a guide on how to do so: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=81852
-
alright checking the temp in a minute after riva tuner installs
Thanks -
anything else????
-
u mentioned in your first post that during nfs pro street the road vanishes. it that still happening
-
That has completely dissapeared windows in general sped up with the driver update
thanks -
no problem im going to sleep now
