my friend got a dell inspiron something (soz i forgot) we were going to play dark crusade on LAN but then for some strande reason his laptop can't run it. It saids the grapics card dosen't support lighting.........
I am asking beacuse i will be getting a G1s and it had a 8600m GT aswell.

Just a brief other question. We were playing soul storm Over LAN and it was like 8 players on LAN, sometimes he laggs out straight away and sometimes he laggs out like 5 minutes later.

As for which inspiron is it i will put it on tomorrow ASAP

No reason why it shouldn't run. Has your friend upgraded his graphics drivers yet? Has the game been patched to the latest version?

It is a Dell Inspiron 1520. The game is fully patched but i don't think the graphics card has the latest drivers.

That should be the next step for troubleshooting, do ensure that the error message he's reporting is really about a lighting error and not something entirely different.

As for the G1S, I have seen it run on that before (lots of times) so that'll be fine.

I run DoW at 60fps with all settings maxed except shadows. Before the action kicks up, I'm sitting at 100+ fps. On;y 3v3 and 4v4 will drop me down into the 20s.

I used to get that message when I played on my GMA950. All you have to do to circumvent it is boot the game in the Safe Configuration Mode, then go to the options menu and maxout the settings yourself,

It runs fine on my notebook. I have had no trouble with any of the Dawn of War series on this notebook, I can have everything on max with 1440*900 and it plays lovely. I've not tried soulstorm yet (not got the money for it as yet!!) but as it is based on the same engine I can't see why I would have any trouble. Not overclocked it either. I am using 174.16 drivers from laptopvideo2go. (I thought I'd be as specific as I can to help you out and save you asking what drivers I'm using :) )

I played it on my old desktop with an AGP 7800 or 7950 (I honestly don't remember any more) and an old school FX series Athalon.

I have a G1S and play DOW and its expansions all maxed. No problem whatsoever.
