Suddenly my WiC started terribly lagging.
    Frame rates are between 9-11.
Even Sims 2 lagged one too often :S
Any ideas what might be wrong here?

I'm running my computer on XP sp2, antivirus is kaspersky, done the viruscheck two times today, also an ad-aware check

Well, for starters: what settings are you playing?

On medium and 1280*800 resolution it should give you between 25-30 normally.

Try to run it on the lowest option and see if the lag persists.

Check your Power Management Settings -- be sure you're plugged in and the setting isn't on Balanced.

Turned the battery on full, changed the options on medium, lag stopped.
But still, shouldn't a 8600 GT be able to run WiC at high without any problems?

No. WIC is a very demanding game.

You cannot play the game on high, but if you go to the advanced section in graphics, you can turn to high some parameters.
    My method was:
    1) Run the benchmark and pay get the values (min, max and average). For reference: I have found normally in the single player missions the FPS fluctuate between above the average and max. The min is like when you have several ranged attacks at the same time.
    2) Increase the parameter and run the bechmark. You will notice some parameters on high pose no decrease to the benchmark.
    3) Keep going with the testing.

I know it may take a while but is worthy. I can play with med-high settings with FPS between 24-32 and I have the same card as you.

i can run on high ok, usually no lag, except when crazy explosions are happeneing, this is only when everything is maxed though. you should be ok for medium for sure.

world in conflict is one of those games where you graphiccard nearly doesnt matter. If you look at the tests the difference between a 8600 and 8800 is very small because its 90% based on CPU power.

Thats means if you want to better performance for real, you gotta get alot faster cpu or a quadcore :)

Thats both good and bad, it means that on medium most users can play, since most have around 2 ghz core2 duo today, on the other hand it means that only the newest computers can run it on high/very high and upgrading your graphiccard (proberly cheaper than changing cpu and maybe motherboard and ram) wont help you much in this game in particular.

WiC just loves power. It's a great game though.

    ummm no...

its more dependant on GPU, but a better CPU will help alot more than other games. His CPU is alot better than mine, but I can run on highest settings fluently and he can run on medium fluently. so that proves it.
