I currently own the laptop in my sig. I have the opportunity to sell it and then pay £300 to get a HP Entertainment (cant remember exact model no) which has Dual Core 7300 2.0ghz, 4 Gig Ram, 320 GB HD and GeForce 9600m GT 512MB. You reckon its worth getting? Will I see a large improvement? Cheers :D

I can't see a large improvement. Check reports, but the difference will not be a momentous change. I would say to save your money and go with a high-end level card for a better experience. As many games are shifting to CPU usage comparable to GPU usage (GTA IV for example) you will find that the 7300 will not be as useful. Overclocking your current rig would a better use of money IMHO.

There will be hardly any difference; the only real difference in terms of performance is that the 9600M-GT has higher clocks. You can get 9600M-GT performance, which is not much higher to begin with, by overclocking your 8600M-GT a bit.

The HP laptop is not worth an additional 300 quid.

yeah, plus the cpu on the HP is 200mhz slower, so you might notice a hit in some things actually. try OCing your GPU on your current macine.

+ slightly in gpu speed (easily reached with overclocking)
    - slightly in cpu speed
    = waste of £300

cheers fellas, I currently over clock my 8600 to

    Core - 525
    Shader -1425
    Mem - 475

This seems the limit of my card.
