Run it with the standard resolution and see what you get.

Actually it IS. Unless you consider a 200~400 points difference in performance (exclusively because of the OS you're running the test) something casual...

Btw, that "small" 400 points difference on 3dMark06 is almost the same that you'd get by running the test in Core 2 Duo T7300 and then running it again in a Core 2 Extreme X7900 !!!!! A processor around US$1.000,00 more expensive!

    I believe you...

The thing is 1280x800 is NOT the default resolution for the 3DMark06 test...

The default resolution is 1280x1024... However it might not be your fault... as the 3DMark 06 usually changes the max resolution of the test in case your notebook/desktop is unable to run it because the LCD/Monitor lacks the proper resolution.

you're right, The max and native res on my acer 5920g's is 1280x800, but i compared my points with others in this res here's something on this forum:
after seeing this OC'ed 8600m gs is similar to stock 8600m gt with both having gddr2 of course, thats
what it should be.Anyway, mainstream mobile gpu's are all crap, ill continue to game on my beloved desktop with 8800gts 512mb, leaving the daily work and other stuff to my notebook :)

In one thing you're right... "mainstream mobile gpu's are all crap". :(

However I've just tested my G1S on the 3DMark06 at 1280x800 res and got 5.2k on the score !!! Over 400 points from my previous result running it at 1280x1024 res...
