I was thinking of overclocking my 512mb 8600m gt ddr2 card in the near future, currently its on 475/400. However the gpu temperature has me a bit worried. Its on about 60-65 C when browsing the internet and doing simple tasts, but after running 3dmark 06 it hit 80 C... Is that normal?

Also what would be regarded as a threshold temp for the 8600m gt?

    Thanks.

Yes it's normal. Mine is clocked at 650/500. When it gets too hot it will downclock itself, tho the max temp i ever hit under max load now is 91degrees celcius, after the new BIOS got released for my acer 5920g

My 162.18 drivers dont even allow for temperature monitoring. I never thought about actually overclocking the card, that sounds kinda useful. Any tips and typical clocks? You guys using rivatuner?

My wooden desk. Guess I will have to get one of those cooling fan pad things if I decide to overclock.

ms500... thats the benefit of the 17" chassis.
Lower temps due to better cooling solutions.
