I haven't been able to find any benchmarks for the 860m in SLI. I'd like to compare that head to head with the 870m. Anybody have a link or know how big of a performance increase it would be?

    Thanks!

you could take the performance of one 860m and add about 60-80% to it, or sometimes 100% in perfectly coded games. Im assuming your talking about the kepler 860m correct? Or is this the maxwell version? Either way, SLI 860m of any variant will easily beat down a single 870m no question.

It should beat GTX880m in theory but that could vary depending on the game.

There is no 860m Maxwell SLI because it is soldered. He can only be talking about the 860m Kepler. In my opinion an SLI of 860m Kepler isn't really worth it, it'll most likely be the same price of a single 880m which will be more hassle-free and end up with more consistent performance across games.

why cant they have sli on soldered GPU's? Two inetgrated GPU's with built in sli connectivity should be possible. Surprised it hasn't been done yet. Dual GPU solutions on a single PCB, like the TITAN Z or gtx 690 use the same setup, only difference would be the 690 isnt soldered to the motherboard

    Why do you say x8? It's x7 because it's 17 inch.

Will the maxwell GPU's be compatible with the current laptop motherboards offered for the kepler GPU's? Or will you have to invest in a new laptop?

Yes but it is still 765m Kepler SLI and not 860m Maxwell. As of yet there's no SLI 860m Maxwell soldered that I know of, but it should come out sometime in the future. All SLI from Clevo are MXM though (not soldered).

New laptop. The Maxwell cards all are soldered into the motherboard so they are not upgradeable. We have no news of MXM Maxwell for laptops yet that I know of. Don't expect any laptop GPU to be really upgradeable in the future, as there are frequently bios and compatibility issues even if they all are MXM.

Nvidia wont allow 860M Maxwell to be SLI. Same with GTX 750Ti. OEM partners was told not to build cards with SLI connector. Maybe its strategy to not directly compete with other Kepler cards?

Either way its a bit messed up because literally all 860M should have been Maxwell, soldered or MXM

That doesn't make sense. There's 860m SLI Kepler, what difference does it make if it's Maxwell or Kepler if performance is similar?

I guess Kepler 860M is just another way to remove GK104 inventory hence why they decided that MXM should be GK104 while soldered can get the new GM107 chip.
I dont know. I dont understand it either. since Notebookcheck`s review showed that Maxwell GTX 860M is like 10% faster than Kepler 860M.

I just got off the phone with a Lenovo rep (who sounded very knowledgeable) who was certain that Lenovo was about to add a new Y50 model for sale that had duel MAXWELL 860m's.

I'm not sure it'd be called Y50 if that's really the case, but anyways it would surely be a very interesting notebook! :D (If the price is right)

BS. I'll believe it when I see it.

You sure you're not confusing Y50 with Y510p successor?
