How much more powerful than the 8600M GT do you think the 8700 is? I heard it is basically just the 8600 overclocked...I'm not sure if it is just some sort of expression or whatever but do you guys think that you could maybe with sufficient cooling overclock the 8600 to close to the perfomance range of the 8700?
-
from the specs one can say that it's a overclocked 86gt... we should wait for some benchmarks though.
-
The 8700M GT, believe or not...
will be on par with the mobile 7950GTX but with DX10
Contrary to what most people think, the 8700M GT is still considered a high-end DX10 card... though it may have a dual-rank 128-bit mem interface.
It should easily out perform the 8600M GT by at least 20-25%... which the current mobile 7950GTX already does.

Wow thanks, do you think I could ask what the core clock, shader clock, etc. are on the 8600?
-
So for the quick translation for the 8600M GT:
Core Clock (MHz): 475
Shader Clock (MHz): 950
Memory Clock (MHz): 700
Max Memory (MB): 512
Memory Interface: 128-bit -
Thanks much!
how much do you think the 8600GT will overclock to? -
You might not need to overclock anytime soon because the 8600M GT is on par with mobile 7900GS... which already plays pretty much all the latest games with high settings. -
I think we've seen the 8600 GT on the G1S overclock very nicely.
-
What's that dual-rank 128bit memory interface mean? At first I thought it might be like a 'dual channel' interface, but the bandwidth numbers indicate it's merely 128bit.
-
its kind of like dual-channel...
Its main purpose:
Memory (RAM) that will let the system equally distribute memory addresses to gain optimal performance.
Its a good step to get a replacement for the 7900/7950GTX's.... however when Nvidia releases a 256-bit high-end DX10 card, the performance should be amazing.
