When is the release date, I'm hoping for a july-August time frame becuase after that, I have to go back to school. This card is the only thing thats holding me back from purchasing a laptop right now.

Don't think 8700m is happening. The 8800ms are supposedly being released late next month and i think the 8700m those sites were referring to is probably the 8800m gs. Those sites said it would be released in 3 weeks and its been 3 weeks since they were published I think maybe nvidia will officially announce the 8800m at the end of computex?

The high-end GeForce 8M series cards are coming out this summer, there is no known date.

The 8700M GT is supposed to be in the Clevo D901C which is supposed to be released next week. There's been no news updates on the D901C since last month, though, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Don't forget, the 8700M GT was listed on BOTH D900C and D901C pages. I think they're 8800M GS and 8700M GT are the same thing, just one is the final name and one isn't. Can't say which, but I'd prefer 8700M GT. I totally thought we'd know more being this deep into Computex.

If ATI HD 2600 beats the 8600 by a big margin, i think nvidia will pull this one out of the bag earlier than expected. But for now, i see it as a next year release.

I don't think you're going to see an 8700M for a while. It was quite a long time between the release of the 7600 and 7800 before we saw the 7700, and even then it was only in a few laptops. I think the 8600GT is probably the best bet at this point for a 14" to 15" form factor.

So do you guys think I should just purchase a laptop now and stick with the 8600M GT even though I'm going for a 17'' notebook?

"Coming soon – The GeForce 8M Series for enthusiast will be released in the summer of 2007!"

I'm still hoping that this quote is accurate.

I'd say wait till the 8800gt comes out, but that's only if you want the most powerful card in your laptop (and pay the price for it).

We need to change this title. Some people look at it as "When is the thing between 8600M and 8800M coming out", but what I think is reall being asked is "When is the Enthusiest 8M Chip Coming out".

Again, I think 8700M GT is the enthusiest chip the NVIDIA site talks about, and we won't see 8800Ms for a while. Remember, 8700M doesn't necessarily paralell 7700, since this is a totally new architecture with a little new naming scheme.

The Clevo site actually said 8700M GT 512MB. We've only ever seen 8800M from The Inquirer, which means almost nothing. Eurocom website used to say GeForce Go 8800GTX, but now they say "GeForce 8 series", so the naming is obviously being toyed with.

8800m is going to be released in late july. Other thread someone noted that at computex there was a computer with the 8800m and in the information it says release late july. Maybe nvidia is waiting near the end of computex to confirm the 8800m?

Can you link me to this thread? I used search and can't find it. This info is coming from all over the place; it's hard to keep track.

Still now specs, launch partners, ect... All they have is it listed where they used to say "Coming summer of 2007!" Well apparently it is here, but what exactly is it? It had better be at least as good as the Go 7950 GTX in performance.
