The effective 950m, gimped at a larger process is matching the 770m at a much lower cost and power level already and this is a bad sign?

I actually wonder why gtx 870M that has exactly the same specs (only bandwidth difference) as gtx 660ti has a noticeable lower score in both benchmark and in game FPS

    gtx 870M

    1344 cores
    941-967mhz
    192-bit
    120gb/s bandwidth
    3D mark 11 : 7.2K avg
    Firestrike : 4.6K avg

    gtx 660ti

    1344 cores
    915-980 mhz
    192 bit
    144 gb/s bandwidth
    3D mark 11 : 8.7K avg
    Firestrike : 5.7K avg

You just answered yourself there "only bandwidth difference" plus even a difference in clock speed helps too.

I am personally holding off all upgrades until Q1 2015 unless new SSD's come out or maxwell arrives early. Selling my £850 TV also for cheap just to have the money for maxwell its going to be very costly.

it doesn't do the maths if looking at bandwidth+clocks
i suspect it is due to driver or power limitation since it is rated 100 watt+ and most people who has benchmark had 180 watt adapter
    870M should get ~8K in 3D mark 11. imho

    Graphic score only sir :)
you can refer to many people who has benchmark gtx 870M and them dekstop guys
660ti is even more powerful than gtx 880M slightly. i really don't understand why :/

The desktop cards can boost far beyond their rated max turbo. The rated is a guaranteed minimum on them so in reality the core clocks are higher.

Congrats to your new device. :)
Would you make a short review about your new notebook when it arrives? Would be very appreciated. :)
I am very interested in the P150SM with 870m too, but i'm quite afraid of fan noise both on idle and mid load as well as under (full) load like gaming.

    Hi Chris

Yep will do. I'll also do a small comparison to my current laptop the PH151HM with 560m.

You could always do an HD7970M with HM bios and get a 180W brick ofc.

    Thanks, djevoultion. :)
I am looking forward to your review.

As i said most interesting to me are the different levels of fan noise during different load levels from idle over mid-load to (full) load.
I want to use this device to 90% for work. Therefore i really attach importance to reasonably noise levels. The device doesn't have to be absolutely quiet, but for work and sometimes taking this device to office next to workmates it shouldn't be disturbing...
And as casual gamer i don't want to be forced on a headset for gaming just in order to get acceptable fan noise levels. Clearly hearable fans while gaming - no problem, but if it's too loud then that would bother me...

Maybe you also could compare with this video?
Clevo P150SM fan characteristics - YouTube
That's a great video a guy made to show the different fan noise levels on his P150SM.

    Thanks in advance.
