If i buy laptop with 8850h over 8750h will i see noticeable difference in frame rates? The one with 8850h is has almost similiar price.

Both CPUs have the same TDP rating, so under extended load, the performance will probably even out. I don't have benchmarks/data to support that.
Either way, both CPUs are fine for gaming. If the 8850H is like $20 more than I'd get it. Otherwise you won't miss it.

If they are of the same model and brand, you may go for the 8850h, but if they are of different brands, it will very much depend on the cooling. If the cooling solution on 8850h is crap, it will perform much worse than an adequately cooled 8750h, so read/watch some reviews and do some research before deciding.

Hurik is the most correct. Cooling should be your deciding factor

Intel recently released their 8th generation Coffee Lake mobile CPUs for laptops, in this video I will compare the features and performance differences between the popular i7-8750H CPU and slightly more powerful i7-8850H CPU to help you decide if it’s worth paying more for the better CPU. I’ve benchmarked both games and CPU intensive applications to show you the difference between them, both at stock speeds and with the 8850H overclocked to 4.3GHz.
Games Tested:
Fortnite
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO)
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
Shadow of War
Battlefield 1
The Witcher 3
Watch Dogs 2
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
Far Cry 5
Dota 2
Applications Tested:
Adobe Premiere
Cinebench
7-Zip (compression/decompression)
VeraCrypt (AES encryption/decryption)
Handbrake (transcode 4K to 1080p, and 1080p to 720p)
Passmark9
Geekbench 4.2.2
Corona 1.3
V-Ray

"Another truly excellent in-depth video. Thank you for your hard work. I think Coffee Lake-H is a bit of a mess, with power requirements on max load doubling that of the previous generation. I see my undervolted 8750H pull 77W, so I could see why most OEMs aren't even bothing with the 8850, let alone the i9 (except Dell who just want to cash in on CPU magpies)"

"Cheers! Haha yeah kind of silly to keep listing them all as 45W TDP how useless! I should be getting my first i9 in a few days so that will be interesting, although probably no gaming tests as it will have different graphics than the 8850H laptop I had, how annoying!"
He didn't mention doing any fan curve tuning or other changes to try to reduce power throttling on OC - or whether it was thermal / power throttling specifically.
At least he is trying, undervolting along with OC, but he didn't really give enough details of the process - at least tell us if he undervolted at OC differently than at stock.
Maybe after a while with more experience from keeping at it in reviews, he will expand his testing to be more helpful.
At least the video shows there is potential in getting more performance from the 8850H with tuning in a system with adequate cooling and power.Last edited: Jul 12, 2018Henris likes this. -
Dont forget that them 8750h is locked at max 3.9 ghz @ 6 core, while the 8850h is unlocked and can be overclocked to 4.3 ghz @ 6 core.
Which laptop are you talking about btw?
If the cooling can handle it and the price is almost the same, definitely go for tbe 8850h. Cpu intensive games like Crysis 3, Total War series and all Frostbyte games will love it.hmscott likes this. -

Performance should be very similar even under CPU intensive task because of the same 45W limit.

For gaming yeah. 8850 is about the same as a 7700hq.. so.. perfect for just gaming
-
as you can see the i5 8250u can be more like a 7700hq
8750h vs 8850h
