I'm slightly confused as to which one performs better?
The memory bandwidth for GeForce 8800Ultra stands at 103.68GB/s and it’s 63.52GB/s for the HD4850.
The Shader Processing Rate of
8800Ultra has a something around 500GFlops
4850 has a whopping 1Tera Flops
What's the most decisive factor that indicates the performance of the GPU?

8800 ultra will destroy 4850
-
Oh..
Is the memory BW most imp factor while considering the performance of a graphic card or is there any other factor??
Coz one of my colleagues can't stop ranting about how 4850 rips the 8800 apartand he's using the Shader Processing Rate as an important benchmark. I want to disprove him. Can u pls be more technical in explanation....

I thought the hd 4850 is faster than 9800 gtx, which can match up the 8800 ultra in some cases. I don't think there will be much difference between the two.

I would say they are quite similar, ati always have the raw shading power but they never have been fully utilized. eg, hd4850 have more raw shading power 1tflops vs the 900gflops of gtx 280, but the later destroy the former. memory bandwith is important, but its not the single most important. think you left out the 9800gtx+, its in the same price range and thats the one I would have

HD4850 the best
make sure its GDDR5 or just w8 for GDDR5
HD4850 got 2gb of ram and 512 busspeed
if u ask me 100% for the HD4850 with GDDR5 -
Actually I believe that the HD4850 only has GDDR3 and the HD4870 is the one that has the GDDR 5. Performance-wize both will be similar. I hope this helps. God Bless -
