    hey,
i just got a new notebook with vista 64 and a geforce 8800gtx (the sager np5792 from those nice justins at xoticpc) and for some reason im having trouble updating the graphics drivers. when i download from either laptopvideo2go or the nvidia site, i get this message when the nvidia installation program starts:

"The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

What's THAT about - can anyone shed some light on my situation here? I don't really have any games to play as of yet anyway, but I'd like to have everything up-to-date so I can do a backup of my system and start screwing around.

My current drivers are at 167.43..

If you download the newest modded inf. provided with 169.28 there should be no problem!

Yes, the .INF file for the drivers you are downloading does not have the 8800M-GTX listed, but the newer ones should. Follow the above advice. :)

What version did you use? I added the inf, and vista stated my driver is up to date. It refuese to oad the new driver.

    Hmmm,

Installed 169.28 for Vista 64. I went from 8834 3DMark06 to 4707. Not so good. I will go back to the stock driver.

Rebel, then try 169.25. They are sure to be better , at least performance-wise. Dunno about 3dmark06 score, pointless to me when in-game results are waaaaaay better than your average .
Just make sure to edit the inf . There is a thread about the .25 driver, check out page 3 or 4 I think, 1st post,it explains how to do that :)

    Eleron911,

Tried 169.25, 3D Mark is about 50% less than before. Even the Vista performance meter went down. I understand how 3Dmark06 is not all incusive, but the amount is shocking. I used the 169.28 inf with the 169.25 driver files.

I just do not understand the big drop.

This is totally odd. I installed the .25 driver using that method and there was no problem. Try a lower version, 169.04 or .09. If that don`t work, get the official nvidia drivers. As a last resort.

It is weird. I even do the "delete previous" driver is safe-mode. No lcuk though.

My only benchmark currenly is 3Dmark and the Vista performance monitor.

I noticed the LP2go INF file does not have as many entries as he CLEVO inf for files and fie locations. Could this be the reason? Should I try the CLEVO INF? Just change the version in the INF file and see what happens?

Do you have anyhting that made t
