So there is 8800M GTX with 96SP's and 8800M GTS with 64SP's..
-
Pretty cool article.. I guess we're just waiting for somebody to test it.
I like how they address why gaming laptops matter. The era of having your computer locked down to one area of your home is coming to an end. -
thanks...and damn the 8800M GTX is freaking impressive, 3dmark, gaming, tech specs, wonder how much a laptop with it will cost.
-
holy ****.
-
nearly 10k in 3dmarks 06 for those who cant be bothered to go through the link......
If they make the AW x15 for the same price of a macbook pro...........that would be a tough choice -
maybe this doensnt fit in this thread but i just compared my gpu-z results with those stated in the graphics above. i have a 8600m gt and got 3,8 GTexel texture fillrate ram bandwith 12,8GB. anyone the same results as me or do i have some kind of problem with my card

No offense to nVidia, but I don't really trust their benchmarks. I have no doubt the 8800M GTX will be faster than the Go 7950GTX, but I doubt it will be as much as their supplied benchmarks say. If I'm not mistaken, when the 8700M GT launched, nVidia provided benchmarks that showed the 8700M GT beating the Go 7950GTX in 3DMark, yet this time the Go 7950GTX vaunts over the 8700M GT.
-
Dang... Dell aren't mentioned in the upcoming producers
-
nVidia always braggs about future products. It wll more likely be an 8k /14 k SLI 3dmark06 score. Still, a nice improvement, considering. !50% the power of the 7950GTX plus DX10 support is something worthwhile...

Awesome news, thanks for the link to the article. Looks like the 8800M-GTX will be slightly slower than the desktop 8800GTS but I think with some overclocking it should be able to reach almost the same level of performance.
-
Sweet... -

Wow!! Those 3dmark06 numbers are real impressive!!

What they mention it will be mxm 3 and 4 but then say not 1. What about 2?

3DMark 2006: 9241 (Single card!) -
the alienware m15x has a starting price of about $1300 if those pictures posted are correct, and the option of a 8800gtx seems to cost $500. this get less than $2000, which would be very very nice

8800M in a 15 inch?

-
Didn´t look too smooth considering there were no action on screen either.
-
-
Yea,thought the same thing. Kinda laggy. Would be ok if that was ultra high though
I`m betting it was high on 1680... -
im pretty sure with overclocking the 8800m single will do 10,000 on 3dmark06...
-
Uhm... If alienware keeps its price from when the m15x was up on that temp. config site...
$1399 + 400 (I think it was) for the 8800gtx... so cheapest 8800gtx laptop (I believe) is $1799 -
no it was $500... and the base system has 1GB ram only so you might want to upgrade that too. But then the system won't be out until next year so the price tag/base system config might change by then.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah the ram and the processor. It should be about 2100 or so with good specs all around.
-
I will let go of this retarded m15x... since its WAY out of my timeframe and I need a new lappie NOW...
So I will just get a 8600gt lappie... and then upgrade in a year or two... Hopefully they have cards such as 8800gt or gs by Q4 or Q2 2009 -
"A few manufacturers are currently working on $2000 dollar laptops with 8800gtx's since that is the current sweet spot for performance notebooks"
So I dont really think they will stick to the $1399 starting price -
My 8700GT is one piece of ****.

I think the pricing isn't all that bad. It is a much more sounding scheme than those who paid $2000 for their 8700M GT equipped laptops. Although all it would take is Dell releasing a version of this card for their Inspiron 1720/Vostro 1700 and then we could have an 8800M laptop for around $1100-$1200. How is that for hoping?

Nope, that would be the GPU costing about a $200-$300 upgrade. Vostro 1700's start at $900, and Inspiron 1720's cost $1300-$1500 but usually have atleast a $300 coupon to bring the price down. These prices are inline with Dell's previous generation of products (ie. Inspiron e1705 w/ 7900go) so I don't see why it isn't a possibility.
-
It is possible, but not now. I think they will give you a bit of discount when the ATI solution is out (not because they are afraid of it, just because nvidia wanna screw them up even more) Wait for it till then, since it's not far from now, from what i heard. But never wait for something too long, just buy when u need it.
-
I Want One Now! :d
-
I want one 2!
-
When is ATI bringing it out?
When would dell bring it out?
When is there going to be the 8800gts? Because the only diff. is 64 shaders vs 96... -
I think i wont upgrade my notebook (if it's even possible) but ill wait till the 98xx will come out for desktop. Then i will buy a new desktop to play the newest games on. This notebook will play current games fine on medium settings and i will use it for programming in 3d.
-
Likelihood of Dell offering one of these in a Vostro/Inspiron 17" lappy is low considering the impact it would have on the XPS line. Not only that, but it would be a major paradigm shift. Dell has never put "the" top end card in an Inspiron since the inception of the XPS line.
Though, the 8800m GTS (not GTX) may become an option for the Inspiron/Vostro 17" refresh when the Montevina chipset comes out late next year.
The only other possibility I could think of is if the XPS gets 8800m GTX SLI and an Inspiron/Vostro gets a single 8800m GTX. But that's not like Dell. And Dell would probably do 256MB GDDR in the Inspiron/Vostro and 512 in the XPS if they were going to do this at all. -
Seems that the mobile gaming market is starting to suck badly, especially due to the absence of any ati competitor. Where the **** are they ?
