Hey all,
I'm looking to buy a new laptop soon, kind of new at this so i'm just curious will 8800M GTX SLi cards (probably xps m1730) be able to run mass effect on high setting/medium or w/e, some benchmarks would be cool, thanks.![]()
-
yea, mass effect was ported well and the 8800 gtx in sli will be fine.
-
8800m GTX SLI would be able to chew through that game like nothing. This is a desktop benchmark but pretty much a laptop like that is a desktop anyways.

Great
, thanks for the info guys.
-
god those are so wickedly expensive though.....that laptop is gonna be pushin 3500-4000....my god
go look at sager instead and get dual 9800m gt's....plus it will be cheaper -
even with 1 card it will smash the game
-
Just 1 thing dude. dont expect it to look like the X360. its really watered down version.
-
-
Yeah, the Graphics on the x360 are top notch, and the game is just pure art. but for the PC i was extremely disappointed with it
-
I don`t have it, cause I could`ve benchmarked it for you.
But single 8800M GTX users have had no problems running it on very high details. -
Uhm watered down? No read reviews and check for yourself. The PC version looks better than the 360 version. Textures are higher res, framerate much better and so on so on.
I have the game and runs it anywhere from 40-60 fps. Even with a single 8800m GTX the game runs really great at 1920x1200 and max settings. -
yes i can max it, so you will be able to, this is at 1440x900
-
Ive played the game .. so i know what i saw. the Graphics weren't anything special.. I felt the Enviroment wasnt Dynamic at all.
-
-
-.- People trying to argue than X360 graphics are better than the PC... Ports to the PC almost always looks better than their console counterparts.
Examples:
Upcoming GTA IV
Oblivion -
First of all i dont do such arguements, actually myself i think the PC is better in everyway than PC. if you guys want to prove me wrong, then upload some of your OWN screenshots not pre rendered please, also i dont want to go into your Examples like the Upcoming GTA IV.. its gonna run on a better framerate, but for the majority of the cards of this Gen, its gonna look crappier.
-
brainer isnt saying any of us are wrong, hes just saying HE thought X360 looked better.
And it logically makes sense anyways, it was coded to take full advantage of the X360, so technically it could look better on inferior HW, we all know how it works. I havent compared myself. -
-
can you guys post some screens? i run the game @ max and i think it looks horrible for some reason. maybe the driver but i doubt that
-
Yes I can post screens later on. But to me I really doubt from the screens I have seen on the 360 it does not look as good as when I play the game, this on my 8800´s though. Also the game is tweakable on the PC which means there is no way the 360 version looks better. Shadows and lighting is easy to access through ini file, exactly like Gears of War which looks better on PC than 360.
-
gears did look better? i never knew
ok i'm waiting for your screens, if they are great, i might consider playing the game again, its just collecting dust now.
-
-
I never saw screens for the X360 version, but i think GOW looks awesome
-
Thanks for all the info guys, been a great help
-
-
still no screens? hmm i'll try to upload mine today
-
I run with 177.66. Screens are on it´s way.
-
my game is on 95% installation , so we can compare some screenies
, but if you dont mind post in 1440x900 so it be a fair comparison, and post the settings so i do use them.
EDIT: completed installation and now waiting for your settings. -
-
nope, ive disabled that, anyways, after installation i played it a bit then uninstalled it.. i think i'll give the Game for a friend or something

I just installed it I will post some pics. It looked grainy but hey thats probably what that effect does right?
Its all maxed out 1920x1080 and my FPS pretty much never droped below 60fps with my dual 4850's and never went above since I use vsync.
Notebookreview down scaled the images to 1200ish so it killed the quality pretty bad.
-
Thanks for the Feedback.. well its the same thing i'm seeing here.. it seems that its not my kind of games.

Im gonna go take some more with the effect off, I just read up on it and it makes the game look bad esp in a high resolution.
A already died a few timesthat fight in the beginning where you have to go down a hallway like area with a lot of guys shooting at you. My 2 squad guys die fast and it only takes a few hits to kill me (probably because I am an magic user what ever thats called again)
-
nice screens, graphics look sweet
-
That film grain effect totally destroys the graphics quality ... who would want a grainy screen?
-
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Forcing high AF makes a big difference as well, its only 4x by default, forcing AA is a mized bag, especially with ATI cards. The film grain is wretched at any res IMO

I turned off film grain, and yeah things look clear now. But I have to admit comparing the two I didnt mind the effect it did add this nostalgic effect to things.
I have more screens ready to post on my desktop that I can put up later if anybody wants to see them. -
Well no need for me to post pics now when Vicious has. My Mass Effects looks like his
-
The screenshots are pretty good but I know the game looks way better while being played ... most screenshots never do any game justice from my experiences.
