How much better is the 8800M GTX vs the 8700M GT???

Would you notice it in games I mean i want to play games at medium to High graphics and I don't want to play at OMFG OWNAGE HIGH if you get me? :D

Also is the extra £300 worth the upgrade on the M15x?

Since you're already paying that much, it's a good investment. If you don't want high end, you might as well get a Dell XPS M1530 with Geforce 8600M GT.... no need of 8700M GT.

Bottomline: Don't get the Alienware m15x if you don't plan on configuring it with a 8800M GTX.

The 8700m GT is a nice little boost over the 8600m GT, probably in the region of 30-40%. The 8800m GTX destroys them both and will last you a very long time :) Only £200?!?! GET IT!

Im configuring a Alienware M15x... so SLi is out of the question.
My dad said that he would chip in for my M15x... Just depends on how much before I can chose between the 8800M GTX or the 8700M GT

Its kinda a waste to get an m15x if you don't get sli, look for the sager 570tu in the sager/clevo forum. it should suit your needs at a cheaper price.

There is no sli option, but the 8800 is worth the money, since it will last for so long.

I second what Prasad said. If you're not going to get the 8800mGTX, then don't buy the m15x.

If you can afford it go 8800! I could barely afford what I bought (plan to keep for three years I think I should be fine with this machine for 3 years and then I will upgrade.

The 8800M GTX packs a lot of power.
I have 2 of them and can play any game on high at WUXGA.
    Sweet :)

    Lol, it`s not showing off.
I`m pissed that I have to work so much, that I have used it less than 10 h since I got it.
    I need a vacation lol.
