NO. JUST USE SEARCH. There are like a zillion threads that state clearly that the 8800M GTX is MXM IV.

If you would read at least 10 different threads about the same thing because people "forget" to use search, you would be pissed too. I suggest closing this thread, there is actually another one with a very similar name. Use search and see.

I said there is a thread about it. The title was an error, which seems to not have been corrected :D. Just read the thread and you will see.

The initial 8800M GTX's are coming out in:
    - proprietary modules (Alienware m15x, and m17x)
    - MXM-IV (for the two Clevo's)
    - it has the specs to possibly fit for MXM-III (but has not been seen yet)

Those 2 Clevos being the D900/1C and M570RU :D (both with MXM IV factor included). Still, taking into consideration the TDP(close to 7950GTX 45 W range) it is highly unlikely that the 8800M GTX will be any lower than MXM IV. However , the 8800M GTS might make it to MXM III, with its 37(?) W TDP...

What do ROCK use? Are they clevos? Because their current range had 7950's and they have said in the forums that the 8800's just "pop in" and you can upgrade (and any X770 owners will be offered an upgrade next year).

TBH i think u should not care about what type it is.. You probably want to know it so u know if u can upgrade your laptop with it but seeing the massive increase in performance compairing it with a 8700M GT or 7950GTX all the notebooks with older chips then the 8800M series will be a nogo for upgrade due to cooling issues.. Just guessing btw. But on the other hand; if u can ur lucky because it's a really nice chip, if u can find one
