    Hi guys!!

    I have an m15x with a 8800m GTX and I have never experienced any overheating or downclocking problems, or in fact any problems whatsoever with the notebook! In fact I love it!

    the only thing that bugs me is that I can't run the card at full clocks while on battery, even with powermizer fully disabled. I know that would completely kill my battery life but that's ok because when I want to save battery I can use stealth mode or the integrated video card..

    So does anyone know if it's possible to run the card at full clocks on battery and how to do it??

    Thanks!!

    Try this;

    Go into advanced power setting > PCI Express > Link State Power Management > On Battery and change the drop down box to Moderate Power Savings or Off.

    And while I'm not sure if disabling Powermizer will help as it don't make sense, Powermizer downclocks your GPU when the power is not needed, it will automatically turn up the clock when you're running games. I could be wrong though, its just my opinion.

    Hi nic. Thanks for the reply!

    Actually I already had disabled Link State Power Management, so that's not the case here :(

    Even with Powermizer on, when gaming on battery the clocks never go beyond half of the original values. If I get to make games run at full clock on battery, I am sure PowerMizer would be really helpful conserving some battery power by slowing things down when not needed.

    i don't think you are able to run any GPU at full speed without the battery. As you battery is not built to run it at max. Stick to playing when plugged in.

    These cards are too powerful to run at full speed on battery. Period.

    oh! I feared that would be the case.. That's no big deal anyway :)

    So all laptops with high end cards need the AC power to run at full speed eh?

    Thanks for the replies everyone!

    All extremely high end cards need the AC power. My 9650m GT can run at full speed (even OCed a little) while on battery. It kills the battery life to around 50 minutes though.
