Even more interesting is them calling the 8700 gt the most powerful graphics card, when clearly the 7950 gtx outruns it in many games.

laptops are underpowered compared to desktops for gaming, which is why people get both, one for travel and the other for gaming, this laptop is ridiculously heavy and bulky, but it is a laptop
    when did we say that?

    WOOO FIGHT!!!

I believe that 8700gt is good but the 7950gtx wheres the point in buying it now if the more powerful DX10 monster is right around the corner?

So there might be a slim (very very very slim) chance that the 8800m might be offered in 15.4" laptops!??!?!?! That would be insane! But it would probably be really thick...

True I actually hope but theyll just put it into a 17" and make it thinner...

Well the 8800m may only consume 22w depending on the version so there are chances ;)

Sweet!...dammit now I want to hold off buying the F8sv! The waiting game never ends! so will the 8800m be 2x better then the 8600 GT GDDR3 or around there?

We dont know, its not out yet and it depends on which one your using

I hope all you people that are wanting this are ready to pay out your ass, probably looking at a $500+ gpu. Just saying I hope none of you are on a real budget and expecting a good price and performance.

in all honesty, i don't know a single person who would actually play a high end game (ie:Crysis) on max settings with max resolution at like 1900x1200...on a laptop....for more than 1.5 hrs.

No the gddr3 8600 gt costs about 250. The 8700 is 350+ range while the 7950 gtx is in the 400s.

you're right...but when the 8800m does launch wouldn't the 7950 go away and the 8800m replace it as the high end card? thus keeping about the same price?

Welcome to the world of business my friend. Its called paying a premium for the newest baddest thing on the block. You also to have compare performance. If the 8800m performs better than the 79050 than a reasonable price increase would be justified. It it performs similarly it will still be more expensive because you have to a pay a premium for the newest tech. This card will no way be under 500. Another premium (obviously) regardless of new tech is the 8800 is going to be top of the line. You always pay a premium for getting the most powerful product offered. Its like the 8 series for desktops which didn't perform as expected but was still rather expensive compared to the 7 series.

LOl I do like how you phrased your sentence making it seems like the 7950 will disspear off of the face of the earth. :)

hmm...guess you're right then. by the 7950 thing i meant that companies like alienware, etc will get rid of the 7950s and have the 8800 instead. I wonder what in zeus's butthole Ati is doing...those guys are gonna get wayy far behind in their notebook graphic cards...

The 8 series on the desktop didn´t perform like expected??? Hell the 8800GTX eats the 7950 for breakfast in the desktop world. Go figure I own one myself, it eats every game out there, it´s one hell of a card the 8800GTX with a lot of power.

they menat the other 8 series (8600 and down). Everyone was expecting 8600GTS to perform above 7900GS for the same price.

Well agreed on the 256 bus :p

And btw... I wish to have a laptop with power because I got to school all the time, to ppls places, travel, move around the house etc... im not saying I want 5 hours of cordless gaming... just portable power... well in some degree I want mobile gaming but yeah.... lol

I believe that the 8800m will become standard high end gpu after a month or two after release since if they lower prices after 1 month and people will want to play crysis, cod4, bioshock and stuff at the maximum possible...

True... hopefully ATI is like concoctioning a DX10.1 or DX11 mobile gpu that is like 512 bit bus and 1 gb of vram with 1800 core and 2900 memory WOOOOO lol with about .4 terflops ... maybe totaling 1 teraflop in sli :)

Well... maybe they are working on something like 8800m (maybe together with nvidia) since its taking so long...

I believe nvidia will release 8800 as a MXM2 Part + This mobile card will be cut down version of G92.nVidias new 65nm chips eat low power & produce low heat.

My guess is that the best we can hope for is an Arima Special version, as I doubt the 8800M will be physically small enough to fit into MXM-II. Look at the Go7900GS.

To some people it sounds like the 8800m would be a GPU that doesn´t run hot, but I think you are mistaken there. I have hard time believe this would be in a 15:4 form factor. Though if it would I would definitely by me a smaller laptop than I have now :) And praise Nvidia for accomplish such a difficult task.

I called those guys over at Schenker-Notebooks and they said that they will start shipping a Clevo M570RU/8800GTX in mid december. Upgrade from 8700M to 8800M will set you back around 150-200 Euros

Upgrading as in: "if you buy the notebook in standard config with a 8700m, it'll cost xxx and for €200,00 you can upgrade it to the 8800M"?
Or upgrading as in: "for €200,00 we'll send you the new 8800M to replace your current 7950GTX/8700M"?
