Ok... I just want to try to make this clear to myself and others...

What difference do the 64 shaders vs 94 shaders have? Performance wise and heat/power wise?

What are the 3D Mark 06 benchies?

Anyone have both? Could you review them side by side? Same config just 8800m gts and gtx?

PS: 8800m gtx isnt in anyones possession yet or what...

I`d more likely say a max 15-20% increase, in newer games at least...In older ones you`ll be able to max out anything, seing as this card is almost twice as strong as the 7950GTX,with which I can max out pretty much any game before 2005...

    How much was your lappie?

Is the high res. worth it?

Do yoy know what CPU is best in combination with the 8800m gtx so they have about the same lfietime and so the cpu could last another year?

Benchies? Other ppls 8800m gtx bechies are confusing to me... idk why...

    Here you go:

My rig is in my sig. With that in mind, my best score (3dmark06) was 9106, 2nd best 8756, 3rd 84329. Anway anything higher than 9200 on 3dmarko6, the differnece is the CPU as that is just as important in 3dmark as the gpu. With a 2ghz processor C2D expect 8700+ 3d scores. Anyway I can max out EVERY game i played so far all with VSYNC on, except crysis (1440x900, DX10, ALL HIGH 25+fps). There you go. I beleive i read on [H] forums that the 8800M GTS ran crysis 1280x800 ALL medium 30+fps, so pretty damn good. A C2D @ 2ghz w/ 8800M GT(s/x) with blow the doors off most games. :)

I did 9123 on windows XP with my laptop... but i didnt play crisis or any other game than warcraft3 and WoW... yeah i know its overkill but i dont care :) im Downloading crysis, NFS, COD4 at this moment... should be done this weekend :)

proco is not that important in game... ram at least 2gig and a 8800m gtx and your ready for 2 years :)

Actually the CPU has a great deal to say about performance. Anything below 2 gigs is going to take its toll on performance. A 2.5 ghz should satisfy just about anyone.
Of course paired with either a 8800M GTX or GTS.

not really. there will not be much difference in game (lets say cod4) between 1.8ghz c2d and a 2.4ghz c2d, not much at all in gaming. But if you are gaming, while playing online poker, running iTunes, ripping a DVD (and are one hell-uva multi-tasker), then yes you will see a hit, but in gaming performance is really not cpu intensive. Though 3dmark will get better scores the better cpu u have, but we all know the worth of those synthetic scores... :)

or just take the 3dmark score... alone... without the cpumark...

cpu is not important... ram speed is not important... hard drive speed is not important (well a slow hard drive mean slow loading in game but wont affect performance ingame) if you have at least 2gig of ram your ok... and get the fastest videocard you can!

The major difference will be with CPU intensive games, namely and mostly RTS games, or too many physics with some games.

Crysis do make a difference too with a faster CPU since it calculates it´s physics. I make a difference between 2.4 GHz and 2.93 GHz.

i thought the physics calculations are done by a built in physics engine in the gpus? meh. i agree with MegaBUD, FPS won't necessarily see a big change.

A 2ghz C2D can handle the physics of crysis just fine.

invest in a 8800m gtx before investing in a proco! muahahaha and get 1x2gig instead of 2x1gig of ram... you will probably upgrade to 2x2gig this year or next one :)

I will definitaly get the M15X with 8800m gtx and stuff... but only from the base config...

I will just buy the HDD and RAM on newegg... or not... depending on what you guys think...

    I love the 9000 link :)

Ironically I heard that the Ageia X100 in the XPS1730 REDUCED FPS even thouh it took all the physics :D lol

I LOVE PHYSICS I will max out the physics on Crysis until the bar will pop off the side of the screen, and I will be playing around with the sandbox like a woman in a prada store, and I will be running the physics things in the console so I can admire how powerful my laptop it

    Yes I sure do!

Ever seen the video where the guy enters something like "Physics_cpu_stress 0" or so in the console? And theres a demo of like 1000 boxes flying from a centrifugal force on a mini island!?!?!?! ITS SWEEEEEET
