The 8800GTS (G92) probably out performs the 9800m GT and 8800m GTX, but the difference is not significant.

The G92 8800 gts is almost as fast as the desktop 8800 GTX (some would argue it is in some tests). From specs and reviews I think the 8800m GTX/9800m gt are more in line with the 8800 GTS (G80) desktop part.

100% G80.. G92 will win in all tests against any of those cards.

I don't see what the point is trying to compare desktop cards to laptop cards, even if they have the same specs, half the time the desktop card has higher clocks anyways, almost negating the point in comparing physical components. What no one seems to compare is that there are at least 3-4 versions of a single desktop graphics card model and only 1 version of a graphics card for laptops.
Now someone might say well I can just overclock my graphics card to those settings, but the thing is your warranty won't cover those card settings "If they find out about it" unlike a factory overclocked graphics card.

Read around that they are not reliable but... lookie what I found.

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-of-Graphic-Cards.130.0.html

Says that the 8800gtx and the 9800gtx are almost identical in clocks but they have different unified shaders, 8800gtx=96 and 9800gtx=112...

And we all know what shaders do right?

*wonders if this shuts people up*

Well the 8800m GTX is exactly an G80 8800GTS, same clocks though a 256 bit interface instead of a 320 bit interface of the 640 MB variant. G92 8800GTS beats the 8800m/9800m/9800m GTX it is as faster or faster in some instances and slower in some instances at higher res than a 8800 GTX (G80) and 128 SP´s compared to the now high end 9800m GTX 112 SP´s which essentially is just an 8800 GT desktop though with lower clocks. Simple as that.
