I think hes good if he has there newest one. .The .63s support the 9600 so he should be fine.

This is the steps i do. Usally dont get to the third step :D
If ya cant get 1 to work i say screw it. With out a back up not worth it.
ok i just flashed my 8800gts 512 to an ssc the commands i used are

    1. a:nvflash -b backup.rom [Enter]

    Standard back-up (saves BIOS)

    2. a:nvflash -5 -6 file.rom [Enter]

Standard Flash (same card, new firmware)

    3. a:nvflash -4 -5 -6 file.rom [Enter]

(Different model card, removes eeprom protection, using different firmware)

maybe you could try nvflash -r -b file.rom (r bypasses eeprom protection)

heh...I was wondering when someone was gonna tell him how to bypass the eeprom protection!

Now, before you do this, remember exactly how you did this (in terms of timing and what you type) because if the BIOS is no good you'll have to do a blind flash back to the original.

Also, it is possible that this is the same card as the GTX with a different BIOS, just because sometimes manufacturers have to fill in a void and it's cheaper to just use existing cards with a new BIOS than make a new silicon run.

again, it said there was no Nvidia display adpaters found, the BIOS is locked, I have a Phoenix BIOS editor and I will see what i can do.

It seems the VGA bios is locked with the Main BIOS, so until it is unlocked, nothing more can be done....sorry guys, i tried :(

    Sigh...

Well... lets all give our laptops back to BB :D

lol jk... anyone know if they will unlock the bios etc...?

Doesnt Gateway have that P-7101FX something like that... with an OC'able Extreme procesor? Doesnt that require unlocked BIOS? Cant you just like transfer it?

it just unlocks the option for the extreme processor OCing, the card itsself doesnt actually have a BIOS, its embedded in the main BIOS, so its pretty much impossible..

    Hi.

I did that myself, added a massive gpu heatsink and ramsinks.

It`s a lot more risky with a laptop gpu, than a desktop one

    regards

    John.
